Rouse Back-Up Drawers dramatically improve organization, ease of access, and management of Bulk Products.

Dear Ingles Markets,

The “Rouse Back Up Drawers” (BUDs) on the cover comprise one of my innovations designed to enhance the prosperity of Ingles Markets by helping save tens of thousands of work hours per year.

Rouse “BUDs” currently organize, hold, and protect 79 of our 90 different bulk products at Ingles #53 in Clemson. Rouse BUDs are easily pulled out to count, add, or remove cups according to the “sell by” date. This reduces the time needed to locate, sort, and distribute products.

End labels on BUDs help. They identify Product Name, Location, PLU, Order #, and Reorder Criteria. This makes it easier and faster to properly label/price products at the scales, transport products to their display/storage locations, and reorder on time.

As valuable as BUDs are, however, they are not alone. We use more innovative tools and techniques.

Dear Ingles Markets Executive,

Thank You! for chatting with me on November 22, 2023, about our upgraded system for managing bulk products in the Produce Department of Ingles Markets #53.

Our system allows us to maintain a higher standard for our bulk product display while saving about four hours of labor per week. Four hours is not much of a savings by itself. If, however, we were to save 4 hours at just $10.00 per hour for 52 weeks in 161 stores, we would save Ingles Markets one-third of a million dollars each year. That is something special for such a small corner of Ingles business.

You mentioned sending someone to check out our upgrades and savings. I look forward to meeting that person to discuss how we do it in Clemson and how we might scale our upgrades and savings company-wide.
